How to Effectively Give Your Paper the MLA Format
There are various guidelines given for writing your paper in MLA style. Further information has been provided in MLA manual part four, which offers an in-depth understanding. The following are but a few guidelines;

Your paper should have 1-inch margins. This means that the top, bottom, and sides of your paper should only have a margin difference of 1inch. This is to ensure infirmity and neatness in accordance with MLA rules and guidelines. The standard and approved MLA font face and size is Times New Roman with a font size of 12. Most institutions have officialized the use of this font face even in assignments, essays, and dissertations.
The are various options of spacing provided on a regular computer. They include; single spacing, 1.5 spacing, double spacing, at least spacing, exactly spacing, and multiple spacing. MLA rules, however, have the preference of double spacing. So ensure your work is double spaced. You can align your work however you wish depending on how you want your work to look. In most cases, you usually align your topics at the center while your subtopics are aligned on the left and so forth. However, MLA rules demand that your alignment must be justified to the left. It must be to the left, and not justified texts to the right. You must number your pages, not in the standard numbering method, but by the header. The header should be on the upper right side of the paper. Various institutions, however, may give different instructions on how they require their numbering done, so apart from MLA guidelines, instructions provided by your professors must be duly followed. There are four types of font styles; the regular, bold, italics and underlining. Except for the regular, which is used anytime, the other three must be used on-demand.
It would be so extreme if your whole essay paper was bold or italicized or underlined. Therefore, the MLA guidelines suggest that your topics should be italicized. This helps separate the topics from the rest of the paper by giving them the unique feature of being easily identifiable as different. More often than not, a hefty document usually has citations and references, giving the rise for a need of an endnote. According to MLA rules, your endnote should always come last, and it should be placed on a different page.
Your titles and your document, in general, may have additional information that you help define either the title better, or it gives the paper further explanation. Such information should be italicized or quotation marks added to them to identify that information as an addition to the original information. More like an explanation.
